Can Diabetes Be Prevented?

 A lot of people wonder if diabetes can be prevented.



For Type 1 diabetes, there’s currently no known way to prevent it because it’s an autoimmune condition.

But Type 2 diabetes can sometimes be delayed or prevented with healthy habits.

Things that help lower the risk include:

  • Exercising regularly
  • Eating balanced meals
  • Sleeping enough
  • Managing stress
  • Staying at a healthy weight

That doesn’t mean someone automatically gets diabetes if they aren’t healthy, though. Genetics also matter a lot.

The main idea is that healthy habits help your body use insulin better and keep blood sugar more stable.
